The construction will also include the reconstruction of the Králův Dvůr rest area, the capacity of which is to be increased.
The Directorate of Roads and Highways (ŘSD) is preparing to repair nine kilometers of the D5 motorway near Králová Dvor in the strip in the direction of Prague. It has currently issued a tender for a construction company, the expected value of the contract is 480 million crowns without VAT. The Králův Dvůr rest area is also included in the reconstruction.
Road workers justify the need for repairs due to the poor condition of the highway surface, which has a large number of cracks, a number of older ruts and ruts. “In places there is local subsidence in areas of network cracks,” added Jiří Veselý, spokesman for the ŘSD.
The subject of the public contract is the restoration of the asphalt layer of the entire carriageway between kilometers 19.85 and 28.84. About the middle of the stretch “cement stabilization is also expected to be restored”. Five bridges, sewers and barriers will also be repaired. The reconstruction of the Králův Dvůr rest area is intended, among other things, to increase its capacity.
“During the course of the repairs, we expect only a partial restriction of traffic, with the fact that traffic will be conducted in narrow lanes on the part of the highway that is not currently being worked on,” Veselý added. The deadline for submission of bids expires on June 3, as the maximum time for carrying out the work has been set by the ŘSD of 182 days.
