It is no coincidence that we met actress Elizaveta Maximová while talking about fashion style in the store of the Czech brand PBG (the abbreviation comes from the original name Project Bag Girls) in the center of Prague. It was founded in 2011 by friends Aneta Vojtová and Tereza Mayer and focuses on the production of accessories and timeless clothing from quality materials. “You wanted me to bring what I normally wear. I have most of my wardrobe from this brand. I like how their clothes are timeless, easy to combine and, above all, last forever,” confided Elizaveta. Their collaboration started by chance – two years ago she got on Karlovy Vary Film Festival the opportunity to try their handbags. She immediately fell in love with them and now has seven of them.
Like any woman, Elizaveta loves shopping. “I’m a person who can spend several hours in shops. I enjoy it, but I don’t always buy something. The thing has to dazzle me for the first time.” She always imagines herself in the occasion for which she buys the clothes, and she follows that. “It’s actually an investment in the future.”
Trends don’t matter much
As soon as she started taking out her favorite clothes, we were intrigued “martensian”, i.e. shoes designed at the end of the Second World War by the German soldier and doctor Dr. Klaus Maertens. “I can’t let them go and I combine them with absolutely everything. From elegant dresses to leather pants,” says Elizaveta. The actress dispels all myths that this type of shoe is only for tough girls.
Immediately, however, from the trunk in which she brought the clothes, she pulls out princess-like shoes, including high-heeled ones. “I don’t have a specific style, although of course classic sneakers will always be the most comfortable.”
He admits to shopping in fast fashion stores
Even though we met in a store of a Czech brand, the actress admits without much thought that she also shops in ready-to-wear. “Of course, sometimes I can’t avoid shopping in fast fashion stores. It’s probably normal. But I’m glad for the awareness that’s around it now, because a lot of people, including me, think a lot more about what they buy.” But her wardrobe is still full to bursting. “But now I’ve discarded a lot of clothes. Some I donate to charity, others I give to my friends. However, when I once tried out the profession of saleswoman here in this boutique, I found out that I would really enjoy selling. So perhaps that is also a way – to sell things at some charity bazaar.”
Jewelry is her great passion
You would hardly find handbags from world-famous brands whose value reaches hundreds of thousands at Elizaveta. However, what they can tolerate are flashy accessories. “It’s probably the most expensive item in my wardrobe. I wear jewelry that I got from my grandmother and combine it with different brands. Most often with Tiffany&Co, Janja Prokić or Neva Oslo.” The only thing she is not vain about is watches. “I have a beautiful watch at home that I got from my parents for graduation. But I don’t have anywhere to wear them, I’m not one of those people who keeps a watch on my hand all the time. So sometimes I put them on and walk around the apartment with them,” she admitted with a laugh.
Lover of animal patterns
You’d think Elizaveta could wear a sack and still look great. But she is guided mainly by reason. “I really like it when a woman wears white overalls. But I know that I would have everything carefully recorded on it at the end of the day. From morning coffee, through lunch to dinner,” he laughs. On the contrary, she really liked them animal patterns. Although in this respect she was a little ahead of her time. “I wore them already in high school and I was downright unattractive in them. I liked it a lot even then. Not that I have an animal rug hanging on my wall at home, but I like this motif on my clothes. I’ll have to go to my mother’s and rummage through my old wardrobe, because I’m sure I’ll find some such treasure there.’
The color must be
During her studies at DAMU, she mainly suffered from the color black. “It represented a certain degree of anonymity for me, then I could play anyone,” she explained her reasons. When she finished school, she let her imagination run wild and once again dressed only in colorful pieces. “It didn’t go well with me, but somehow I had to get it out of myself. Now I profess moderation, although I also like colorful clothes. But only as a supplement. Maybe all in black and only a blue coat,” he concludes.
Elizaveta now spends her time mainly filming. The month will be exclusively in Slovakia and Croatia. “We are shooting a new series for Voyo there. I’ll be on set for twelve hours, then I’ll go straight into my pajamas and so on and on, so I’d only need a T-shirt and trousers. But I have a big suitcase with me, so we’ll see if I can use everything,” says the still-smiling actress.
