Václav Havel International Airport in Prague’s Ruzyna has changed its parking system since Wednesday. The time for free passage through express parking lots was reduced from the previous 15 to ten minutes once a day on May 1. The airport charges for parking over ten minutes in 15-minute intervals instead of the original half-hour. Available data shows that most drivers leave the parking lot within ten minutes. The change will affect a small number of customers, according to the airport, the website said.

“Thanks to the contactless payment method, you can now pay at all parking lots directly at the exit. Free entry for ten minutes is possible at express car parks once every 24 hours,” the airport said on the X network today.

The original 30 minutes of parking at express parking lots P1 and P2 cost 100 crowns until the end of April. Drivers will now be charged 50 crowns for a quarter of an hour of parking. In the case of parking lasting less than one hour, parking will not become more expensive for drivers with the system change.

All parking lots at the airport will now have the option of paying directly at the exit stands. It will be possible to pay contactless by card. The barriers are newly equipped with light signaling and more accurate cameras for reading license plates. “So, in the case of free passage, the exit barriers will be raised automatically without you having to insert the parking ticket into the rack,” Ruzyne airport informed.

The PB Economy car park in front of the second terminal has become the third express car park with 70 new parking spaces, passengers can use it when arriving at the second terminal. There is also a new place to wait for a taxi. This will be used by passengers who do not want to use the airport’s official taxi service, Uber. The total number of spaces in all three express car parks will increase to 350. In the short term, passengers can park in the PC Comfort car park at a price of 80 crowns per hour of parking.
