I received two vouchers for the National Theater from the editors of íček. It was clear that I would go to Prague with my daughter. But when? Since my daughter is a teacher and does not get vacation during the school year, I was looking for a weekend change. The choice fell on the play Just a moment at the Stavovské divadl.
On Easter Sunday, we left our homes in the early hours of the morning and met in front of the building of Prague’s main railway station around eleven o’clock. On foot, we moved to the Dar Hotel near the Old Town Square, where we were provided with accommodation. After a short rest, we set off to find the Estates Theater and enjoy the views of Prague Castle and the Vltava River. Before five o’clock we were sitting in the Estates Theater and admiring its decoration. The theater play was full of surreal scenes that approximate theater professions and well-known productions. I admit that we thought about leaving during the break. I stayed and realized in retrospect that the play made me think about the subject of wrong and forgiveness. We had planned a night walk through Prague, but we didn’t do it. I ran out of energy.
On the first morning of April, I walked through the deserted streets. The goal of the walk was the Charles Bridge, where there were very few tourists, and I could calmly absorb its magical atmosphere. Too bad there wasn’t better light. Most of the photos ended up in the trash. After breakfast, we left the hotel at ten o’clock and walked to the National Theatre. We crossed the Legií bridge, sat in the park near Žofín and took the tram to the main station shortly after noon. Our Easter went well. The weather was perfect, the stay in the hotel was pleasant, the walks in the Old Town were magical, the cultural experience was thought-provoking, and the trains ran exactly according to the timetables. What else could you wish for? More time for wandering around Prague. Maybe sometime next time.
