The occurrence of thunderstorms should be most likely over the eastern part of the Czech Republic on Saturday, according to the forecast of the Czech Thunderstorm Research Association. Lightning and thunder could occasionally be accompanied by hail. According to experts from the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ), summer weather awaits us on Saturday with temperatures between 20 and 24 degrees Celsius.

“Especially over the eastern part of our territory, an area of unstable air stratification will be maintained,” the organization dealing with the occurrence of thunderstorms said on its Facebook.

Forecast models expect thunder and lightning accompanied by rain, especially in the area of Orlické hors, Jeseníky and White Carpathians. “Thunderstorms may be accompanied by transient wind gusts and isolated hail,” the post said.

ČHMÚ experts are also counting on the occurrence of thunderstorms. “It is likely that they will occur in the eastern half of our territory, most likely in the Zlín region or in mountainous areas in northern Moravia and eastern Bohemia,” said ČHMÚ meteorologist Filip Smola. During storms, even 50 millimeters of rain can fall exceptionally, or hail with a maximum size of 2 centimeters. The wind can suddenly increase.

According to him, there will be enough energy to create this phenomenon, but sufficient air humidity is missing. “It should be isolated storms, not a widespread occurrence. The landscape is dry, so even heavier rain should not cause problems,” the expert emphasized, adding that he does not expect problems due to this weather.

IN Saturday a partly clear to almost clear sky will prevail, according to the forecast of the ČHMÚ. At first, however, it will be cloudy to overcast, especially in Bohemia. Occasional showers or thunderstorms may occur in the afternoon or evening, and their occurrence will be more likely in the mountains.

“In the morning, light rain fell in the west of our territory. Temperatures should range between 20 and 24 degrees Celsius, in the southwest we will measure around 18 degrees Celsius. Summer weather awaits us during Saturday,” explained Smola on the CNN Prima NEWS broadcast.

In places, people should also expect thunderstorms or showers, especially in the afternoon. “Temperature maxima will be in the range of 19 to 23 degrees Celsius.
