In the home rematch of the Champions League semi-final, the Real Madrid footballers defeated Bayern Munich 2:1 and advanced to the final with an initial draw of 2:2. Alphonso Davies opened the scoring in the 68th minute, with two goals in the 88th minute, but at the beginning of the set-up another Joselu substitute set up a turnaround.

The new Spanish champions will face Dortmund, who knocked out Paris St. Germaine.

Real will play the final of the elite club competition after two years and for the eighteenth time overall. The most successful team in history will aim for the 15th triumph.

“It’s no coincidence that we manage to turn around so many games. The great fans helped us today,” Real midfielder Jude Bellingham told TNT television. “I dreamed about this evening as a seven-year-old boy in Birmingham. The final at Wembley, and against Dortmund, I can’t believe it at all,” added the English offensive footballer and former Borussia player.

Bayern failed to win a doubleheader against the big Madrid club for the fourth time in a row and lost the last chance to win the trophy this season. Thus, there will be no repeat of the final from 2013, when Bayern defeated Dortmund in the final, also at Wembley.

Real dominated from the opening minute, but in the first half they created only one big scoring chance. In the 13th minute, goalkeeper Neuer caught Rodrygo’s shot while lying down, the post helped him with Vinícius Júnior’s previous shot. Bayern threatened only after half an hour, when Kane, the competition’s top scorer with eight shots, headed home goalkeeper Lunin’s shot from a spin.

In the 55th minute, he narrowly missed Rodrygo from close range, and immediately Neuer showed a great reflex when shooting under the crossbar from Vinícius Júnior’s boot. In the 68th minute, the guests struck, and after the change of sides, they evened the game after all. Davies dragged the ball to the edge of the penalty area, guided the ball into the center on his weaker foot and opened the scoring with a right-footed display. The Canadian winger scored his first goal in the Champions League, only getting on the pitch in the 27th minute thanks to an injury to teammate Gnabry.

Four minutes later, Davies hit his own net following a defensive corner kick, but the situation was preceded by a foul on Kimmich by Nacho. In the end, the “White Ballet” did not manage to create pressure, but a mistake by Neuer, who was great at that time, helped him. In the 88th minute, the 38-year-old captain of Bayern failed to keep out Vinícius’ bouncing shot, and Josela hit the ball into the open goal. “The ball didn’t bounce the way I expected. Instead of my chest, it ended up on the lower part of my neck. Then it was difficult to get it under control,” the experienced goalkeeper regretted.

In addition, Real’s traditional substitute “joker” added his fifth goal in the competition at the beginning of the set. After the breakdown, Rüdiger returned the ball in front of the goal with a shot cross and Joselu was again in the right place.

The visitors were unable to respond, although in the 13th minute of regulation they were very angry with the referee for insensitively blowing the whistle for a questionable offside before the end of the action, which ended with a goal shot. “I find it unbelievable, I don’t understand why he didn’t let the game continue. He then apologized himself,” Bayern defender Matthijs de Ligt said in an interview with DAZN. “We played a decent game for the whole 90 minutes. It’s sad that it ends like this,” he added.

Real extended their unbeaten streak to 21 competitive matches, they did not even find a winner in their stadium for 31 matches. He has not lost to Bayern for the ninth time in a row and is in the final for the sixth time in the last 11 years.
