The new Ferrari 12Cilindri is official: A celebration of the V12 with 830 horses costs from 10 million

The Italians officially reveal the new Ferrari 12Cilindri. The twelve-cylinder novelty is a huge surprise, because it is developed according to the unwritten rules of the old school – it has no turbocharging or electrification.

In recent years, the automotive world has often speculated about the next continuation of the traditional twelve-cylinder coupes from Ferrari. Not far from the brand’s birthplace in Maranello, Italy, camouflaged development mules were regularly seen, and lovers of racing thoroughbreds were waiting to see if the new product would be presented with revolutionary supercharging or even controversial electrification. And now it’s finally revealed and it’s a spit in the face of everyone who didn’t believe in Ferrari.

It’s officially called the Ferrari 12Cilindri, or Dodici Cilindri, and the new name translates into Czech quite easily, as it means “twelve-cylinder” in Italian. Even if it is not exactly an original name and it may seem a little that the product and marketing managers in Maranello probably did not think of anything better, it is simply a celebration of twelve cylinders. Who knows how many new fast cars with the prestigious V12 we will see in the future.

The new Ferrari 12Cilindri is simultaneously inspired by its most famous predecessors from the fifties and sixties. It thus combines, for example, the dark strip between the headlights, which originally appeared on the legendary 365 GTB/4 “Daytona” model, with modern minimalist lines. Traditionally, the flagship twelve-cylinder coupe from Ferrari has a long nose, a cabin shifted to the rear and is already presented in both body variants – coupe and Spider.

The novelty is still proud of the traditional high-revving atmospheric 6.5-liter gasoline fork twelve cylinder F140HD with key technical improvements. Ferrari equipped it with titanium connecting rods, reducing the rotating weight by 40% compared to steel connecting rods, a new aluminum alloy for the pistons and a weighted lightweight crankshaft. The technicians also equipped it with production technology developed in Formula 1 to reduce friction and increase the mechanical efficiency of the engine.

The newly improved twelve-cylinder thus develops a maximum power of 830 horsepower at 9,500 revolutions per minute and a maximum torque of 678 newton meters. Ferrari says the 12Cilindri accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds, from 0 to 200 km/h in 7.9 seconds and has a top speed of 340 km/h. The open-body version of the Spider is slightly slower, accelerating from 0 to 200 km/h in 8.2 seconds.

The Ferrari 12Cilindri is equipped as standard with active aerodynamics, a system for turning with all four wheels, and the most modern brake-by-wire brakes. The brand has already introduced them in the past on the SF90 Stradale and 296 plug-in hybrid supersports.

The Italian factory sells the new Ferrari 12Cilindri with a base price of 395,000 euros for the standard coupe and 435,000 euros for the open Spider version. At the current exchange rate, customers in the Czech Republic will pay at least 9.9 and 10.8 million crowns respectively.
