Ricciardo shone with fourth place in the sprint shootout – F1sport.cz

The surprise of the sprint race at the Grand Prix of Miami was the fourth place of Daniel Ricciardo from RB.

The Australian would like to convert this year’s best qualifying result into a top three finish in the sprint. The 34-year-old pilot is waiting for the first points this year.

In the third part, he was able to beat, for example, Carlos Sainz from Ferrari or both drivers from McLaren and Aston Martin. He will start from the second row together with Sergio Pérez from Red Bull.

“It’s nice to start near the front of the field. Just being out of midfield where it’s quite chaotic. Hopefully we can stay with the leading riders at the start. It’s a short race, so I hope to survive with them in the first few laps and finish for a good package of points,” Ricciardo believes.

During qualifying, Ricciardo crashed into the wall twice in the treacherous section of the city circuit.

“It’s hard to drive really clean here. It’s a treacherous track and it’s hard to get the slow middle sector right where you jump over the chicane. So in both laps I hit the wall on the exit of the sixteenth turn. That first impact was really big.’
