Furch was one of the key figures of Comet. In the last season, despite a two-month absence due to injury, he caught 31 games in the regular season, conceded an average of 2.20 goals per game, had a success rate of 91.88 percent and kept three clean sheets. He added another six starts in the playoffs (average 2.33 and success rate 92.22), but Litvínov eliminated Kometa in the quarterfinals.
He still had a contract with Jihomoravany for another season, but he asked to terminate it. “During the course of the year, I decided that for family reasons, I would like to solve the upcoming season in order to be closer to Prague, closer to my family. There were a few clubs in the game, we finally settled here,” explained Furch.
Negotiations with Mlada Boleslaví were straightforward. “We were able to come to an agreement quite quickly. That was the main thing,” explained Furch, who was also pleased with the length of the collaboration. “When I was making my decision, I wanted a longer contract. A three-year contract gives you some peace of mind,” added Furch.
Mladá Boleslav will be his fourth stop in the Extraliga after his involvement in Slavia, a short stint in Pilsen and Brno. He also has extensive experience from the KHL and the Swedish top league. He participated in two world championships and the Olympic tournament in Pyeongchang with the national team.
“I met Furchín at Slavia, he was in Pilsen for a while, he is a professional who will prepare you perfectly. His performances are consistent. He should help us a lot from the back,” is convinced the club’s new sports director Tomáš Vlasák.
According to information from iDNES.cz, Furch should be replaced in Komet by Aleš Stezka, whose one-year rookie contract with Seattle is expiring. However, he spent the season in the AHL, he did not make his debut in the prestigious NHL.
