“Whoever was driving along this road around ten o’clock in the morning and had to respond to a black Škoda Octavia that was driving roughly two kilometers in the opposite direction, from the Samota motor station in the direction of Brno, should report to the police,” said police spokeswoman Barbora Balášová.

Criminal investigators will welcome records from on-board cameras that show driving in the opposite direction. Witnesses can contact the police on line 158 or on the traffic police phone number 735 780 170.

The accident happened on Wednesday, April 24 after ten o’clock in the morning. The thirty-seven-year-old driver of a Škoda Octavia driving from Uherské Hradiště was driving in the opposite direction for reasons that have not yet been determined, where she subsequently collided head-on with an oncoming Škoda Karoq.

Her pregnant passenger succumbed to her injuries on the spot. The driver herself and two other passengers were injured, as was the driver of the other vehicle.

“Firefighters rescued three people from the vehicle on a backboard. The fourth was already outside the vehicle. In cooperation with the crew of paramedics, firefighters performed resuscitation on one person, including the use of an AED. However, she succumbed to her injuries,” Lucie Javoříková, spokesperson for the fire brigade, informed after the accident, adding that one of the injured was loaded into an air ambulance helicopter.
