A serious traffic accident involving several cars occurred on the morning of Saturday, May 4, in Karvinska, on the D1 highway in the direction of Poland. The highway is now closed.

“The accident occurred before 9:30 a.m. on the D1 highway at 376.5 km in the direction of Poland. According to preliminary information, the driver of a tractor transporting a tank should have stopped on the highway in the right lane, a passenger vehicle stopped behind it, when a truck carrying cars. There is one person on the scene who suffered injuries incompatible with life,” said Moravian-Silesian police spokeswoman Eva Michalíková.
Traffic on the highway was stopped. “The police are diverting traffic towards Bohumín and Chalupki,” the police spokeswoman said.
Interventions by the IZS units are underway at the scene, the police are still investigating the accident. Traffic at the scene of the accident is expected to remain closed for at least the morning.
