The Swedes are hungry for a medal

Six years. That’s how long the Swedes have been waiting not only for gold, but also for a medal. And if it’s ever going to work out, then this year, because Tre Konor is taking an almost Olympic roster to Ostrava.

Victor Hedman, one of the NHL’s best backs, will lead the defense, with Rasmus Dahlin, the number one draft pick in 2018, as his partner. Another elite defender and last year’s most productive NHL defender Erik Karlsson will also be missing.

The Swedes have plenty to choose from in attack as well. Adrian Kempe, Joel Eriksson EK, Andre Burakovsky or Fabian Zetterlund. There are no excuses here, with this team not getting a medal would be a clear failure.

USA better than rival

Rarely does the USA give itself a better chance at a tournament than arch-rival Canada. But this year, at least on paper, America has a much more star-studded team. And as for the hunger for gold, it’s huge here too, after all the USA won the World Cup last time in 1960!

That is why they are bringing an extremely packed selection to the Czech Republic. Brady Tkachuk, Trevor Zegras, Johnny Gaudreau, Joel Farabee, Cole Caufield, Zach Werenski, Luke Hughes and more. The squad is overflowing with star names, now the question will be how the players can handle it on the ice.

Sweden vs USA odds

The odds for both teams are completely balanced, it is difficult to determine before the match who will have the upper hand. The bookmaker Tipsport has listed the match for 6 goals, which you can bet on at odds of 2.04.

Betting Tip – Draw after first period

Considering that this is the first match of the championship, the teams are not yet 100% matched and, moreover, it is practically a battle for first place, so no one will want to be the first to make a mistake.

Therefore, we can expect a more cautious first period, which might not offer so many goals. Therefore, a draw after the first period seems like an attractive bet.
