It has been argued for some time now that classic television will soon be out of the question when there is such a huge offer of various streaming platforms where you can play a huge amount of content for a small fee. After all, who would want to bother watching long advertising blocks, which are becoming more and more frequent.
However, the reality is a little more complicated, and it turns out that linear TVs have definitely not had the last word yet. It seems that many people are simply comfortable with this format. While on Netflix, for example, they have to create the program themselves and search for what to watch, television simply serves it to them at a certain hour. The apparent disadvantage of the impossibility of choice turns into an advantage for some. He simply turns on the program and watches what is currently running.
Even large foreign giants are aware of this, and although they have bet a lot on the development of their platforms, they are now discovering that ordinary television with advertisements can still earn them a lot of money. This is also the reason why a real heavyweight is coming to the Czech Republic in the form of Warner TV. It has already announced that it has received a license from the Council for Radio and Television Broadcasting. So it can start broadcasting soon.
It must be said that no long preparations will be needed here. Television belongs to the big media giant Warner Bros. Discovery, which has a huge amount of content, whether it’s movies, series or documentaries, but also sports. Let’s see what the Czech Republic has to offer. There is also the fact that he will launch multiple channels in order to be able to sell all his content properly. Anyway, he owns such popular brands as Friends, Game of Thrones or The Big Bang Theory. Now he can replay all these pieces on his channels and no longer have to sell them to others.
No one has such an archive
It is a big competition especially for established TV stations in the Czech Republic, such as Nova or Prima. They often license shows from Warner’s catalog, which may be more difficult or even impossible now. We’ll see how much exclusivity the station will set for itself here.
In addition, the unequivocal trend of large entertainment corporations building their own TV stations in individual countries, even seemingly insignificant ones such as the Czech Republic, continues here. The Paramount Network has also been operating here for some time, drawing from the catalog of the company of the same name for a change.

At the same time, it appears that the offer of television production in the Czech Republic is constantly growing, and it is a big question whether we need something like Czech Television here, which is a regular linear station, but for which everyone has to pay concession fees.
