The current fourth generation Nissan X-Trail was first introduced in 2020 under the name Rogue, under which the model is known in the North American market. As the X-Trail, the model was presented a year later at the Shanghai Motor Show and is only now coming to European markets.
The fourth generation of X-Trail received the new CMF-C platform, which is also used by the Qashqai model, but it is similar in size to its predecessor. It measures 4,681 millimeters (-10 mm) in length, 1,840 mm in width (+ 20 mm), 1,730 mm in height (+ 15 mm) and its wheelbase is 2,705 mm (unchanged). In Europe, the X-Trail will be available exclusively with hybrid power units, specifically two will be available.
The basis of the offer is a turbocharged 1.5-liter gasoline three-cylinder in a mild-hybrid drive system. It works with the Xtronic automatic transmission, through which it drives only the wheels of the front axle. The output of the mild-hybrid is 120 kW (163 hp) and the maximum torque is 300 Nm. The maximum speed is 200 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 9.6 seconds.
In addition, European customers will be able to purchase the X-Trail with the new e-Power powertrain. It is also a hybrid, but the internal combustion engine plays second fiddle in this case, as its primary role is to generate electricity for the battery. Nissan therefore says that the X-Trail equipped with the e-Power drive basically drives like an electric car.
In the case of e-Power, there is already a choice between front or all four wheel drive. The difference is, as is the case with pure electric cars, in the number of electric motors. The ATV has a second unit on the rear axle. The front wheel produces 150 kW (204 hp) and 330 Nm and its top speed is 170 km/h, while acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 8.0 seconds.
The all-wheel drive version of the e-4ORCE produces 157 kW (213 hp), with the front electric motor delivering 330 Nm and the rear contributing 195 Nm. Nissan did not specify the combined value in the press release. In this case, the maximum speed is 180 km/h and the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 7.0 seconds, respectively 7.2 seconds in the seven-seat version. You can combine all engines with a five- or seven-seat interior.
In addition, ten body colors and five two-tone versions are available for the European X-Trail. The interior features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, while the infotainment touchscreen is just as large. At the same time, Nissan boasts that it has retained the ability to control buttons and wheels for basic functions.
The Czech representation of the brand does not yet list the X-Trail model on its website, but the model is already available in selected markets. For example, in neighboring Germany it is offered in five trim levels: Visia, Acenta, N-Connecta, Tekna and Tekna+. The basic equipment of the Visia with a mild-hybrid drive unit starts at a price of 35,500 euros (approx. 871 thousand crowns), while the top equipment Tekna+ with e-Power drive and the four-wheel drive X-Trail costs at least 55,730 euros (approx. 1.37 million crowns).
