“The increase corresponds to the seasonal period and does not reach epidemic values,” the hygienists wrote. The graph comparing the development of previous seasons of respiratory infections shows that the epidemic threshold for this period is around 1,500 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
According to data from the Ministry of Health, the number of people who have tested positive for covid-19 has been increasing significantly in recent weeks. Compared to the first Monday in October, the number of positives on the first Monday in November was almost double. The statistics record 1,526 of them. Health workers are also testing more people, on Monday there were more than 5,000.
For a long time, flu epidemics followed the same course. The first autumn peak in the number of cases was in autumn, there was a decrease during the Christmas holidays and the maximum was in January or February. The last three years have been atypical, in the fall of 2020 the flu spread at least due to anti-epidemic measures, and a year later the peak of the flu epidemic was already in the fall.
Last year the season started earlier, but at the end of October there were fewer cases than this year. However, the number increased significantly from mid-November, reaching almost 2,500 at the end of the year, which was almost double compared to previous years, which were still affected by anti-epidemic measures.
