The Chamber will host a ‘disinformation seminar’ on covid. Prymula finally refused to participate iRADIO

The conference entitled “Vaccination against the disease covid-19 – current view” is to be held in the Chamber of Deputies in less than two weeks. According to the invitation, he will focus on “analysis of anti-covid measures in the Czech Republic” and “vaccination safety”.

The Smis-Lab association invites you to the event on its Facebook page. “We will finally speak in Parliament,” he reports, adding that experts will “try to break the great covid silence”. One of the founding members of the associationthe mathematician Tomáš Fürst, who is among the speakers of the upcoming seminar, claimed in the past without evidence that the birth rate is decreasing due to vaccination against the coronavirus.

The president of the association, virologist Hana Zelená, ran for the Senate last year for the far-right PRO party led by Jindřich Rajchl. In the past, he described vaccination against covid as unnecessary. The Smis-Lab association donated 55,000 crowns to the PRO party last year, as calculated by Deník N.

“The protagonists of this event have been spreading anti-vaxxer misinformation and lies for a long time,” immunologist Zdeněk Hel criticized them. “Such misinformation undermines trust in doctors, experts and state institutions. They directly threaten the health and lives of citizens,” he wrote in an open letter to the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Markéta Pekarová Adamová (TOP 09).

According to him, the conference in the lower house gives the organizers the appearance of legitimacy. “I do not take away from the actors the right guaranteed by the Constitution to express themselves freely and confirm each other’s conspiracy theories. But let them do so in a building rented from a private entity, not in the dignified premises of a public state institution,” noted Hel. And he called on the head of the Chamber to intervene against the seminar.

Pekarová Adamová described the conference as disinformation. However, according to his words, he cannot cancel it. “It is not within the power (authority) of the Speaker of the House to cancel events to which the elected deputy will patronize. However similar associations and their opinions contradict me,” she said for iROZHLAS.cz.

Below the invitation to the seminar is signed SPD MP Vladimír Zlínský. “All critics are invited. We can have a sharp free discussion there, no one is banned from entering,” he said. According to him, he knows the opinions of the Smis-Lab association, but he does not plan to cancel the seminar. “There are different opinions in society. It is not the best for the health of society if only one opinion is promoted,” he concluded.

The head of the Smis-Lab Zelená association she called Hel’s statement a lie. “I think that something like this that the person allows himself to spread is absolutely outrageous,” she protested.

Epidemiologist and ex-Minister of Health for ANO Roman Prymula was originally supposed to speak at the conference. But he distanced himself from the event on Thursday. “When I saw the list of participants today, where practically all are anti-vaxxers, I do not consider my participation appropriate and I will not participate in the event,” he wrote in an SMS.
