The stars of the next concert season have been announced by the biggest domestic festivals Colors of Ostrava and Rock for People, as well as by the Live Nation agency. After two years, she will once again bring German Rammstein to the Czech Republic, who will return to Prague’s Letňany on May 11 as part of their European stadium tour, as well as Depeche Mode. Both bands will play twice in the capital to the great interest of the audience.

At the beginning of the week, Live Nation announced another concert event – a performance by the legendary American singer-songwriter Bruce Springsteen. With his band E Street Band, he will return to his current tour, with which he already toured Western Europe in 2023 and once again collected enthusiastic reviews. “They seem like people who are desperate to be on stage, like a bar band who still can’t believe how lucky they are to be playing for the whole stadium. Although he’s been doing it since the eighties,” The Guardian wrote about Springsteen and the E Street Band in the spring of this year.

Springsteen’s show is scheduled for May 28 again in Prague’s Letňany, the place hosting the biggest concerts in the Czech Republic. The concert of the artist, who received the highest civilian award from former US President Barack Obama and added a medal from President Joe Biden two years ago, will be the only one in Central Europe. Advance ticket sales at a price of CZK 1,690 start on Friday morning in the Ticketportal network.

Extravagant Colors and Ed Sheeran all around

The big stars have already announced domestic festivals as well. The biggest one, if the organizers don’t come up with something yet, will probably be the Irish singer and songwriter Ed Sheeran, one of the most listened to artists today, who will come at the invitation of Rock for People. However, he will not perform at the festival itself, but his concert will take place in the home area of Rock for People, Park 360 in Králové Hradec, on July 27, 2024.

He is not the only artist who will perform in the Czech Republic as part of the Rock for People Concerts. In the spring of 2024, the headliners of last year’s festival, British rockers The 1975 (March 14, Sportovní hala Fortuna, Prague) or punk band Idles (March 11, SaSaZu, Prague) will return as part of the concert series.

Colors of Ostrava also offers a big summer attraction. Unlike the artists named so far, Sam Smith has never performed in the Czech Republic. The artist, who became famous for the love ballad Stay With Me, the song Writing’s on the Wall for the Bond movie Specter or the current hit Unholy, announced in 2019 that “after years of fighting with his own gender identity, he decided to accept it with all that it entails”. Since then, he has been undergoing a transformation that is also reflected in his artistic self-presentation. Sam Smith’s name is no longer associated with slow crawlers about love, but with extravagant dance hits.

Sam Smith will perform in the Hlubina mine in Ostrava on 18 July 2024.
