The memorial service took place on Friday local time at Forest Lawn Memorial Park near the Warner Bros. film studios. According to the BBC, the ceremony lasted about two hours and, according to the American media, around twenty people participated in it.
His family, including his mother, father and stepfather, came to say goodbye to the famous actor. Perry’s parents divorced a few months after his birth, Matthew spent his childhood with his mother in Canada before moving to Los Angeles with his father to launch his acting career.
Although he played in several films and series, the role of Chandler Bing in the successful series Friends became fatal for him. His series colleagues Jennifer Aniston (Rachel), Courteney Cox (Monica), Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe), Matt LeBlanc (Joey) and David Schwimmer (Ross) also arrived at the funeral. Remote footage of the cast arriving for the ceremony is circulating on social media.
After Perry’s death, many fans waited anxiously for the now five-member Friends to publicly comment on the actor’s passing. So far, neither of them have posted anything on their social media, only releasing four days after Perry’s death joint statement in People magazine saying that they are completely devastated by his loss and need time to grieve.
Matthew Perry died at the age of 54 on October 28, 2023. According to American media, he drowned in a hot tub.
