Paintings of Vclav Havel. Gallery of unknown paintings of the former president

I am selling two paintings from the 1950s for the auction, specifically Vincent van Gogh’s Self-Portrait and Landscape with the Sun. Originally from the estate of Havel’s brother Ivan. The authenticity of works was created by Trinity Art Research.

Until now, the artistic talent of young Vclav Havel was known only in the circle of his closest friends, and that was only among the birds from the early 1900s, to the gallery of Terezia Kaslov.

The gallery points out that until recently the public knew only one of Havel’s paintings. Now, however, it is indisputable that the two bees from the pre-Revolutionary period have their own five images. One of those to whom Vclav Havel dedicated his oil painting is Jaroslav Rna, a striking personality of contemporary Czech art. Vclav Havel also attached a special novel to the painting, uvd.

In 1990, Vclav Havel co-founded the Jindich Chalupeckho Prize, which is awarded to the first visual artist. He made no secret of the fact that he was active in the field of visual arts, and even owned the works of several notable artists. My brother Havel’s love of Vclav’s visual arts and painting during the fifties of the last century was also confirmed by a close friend of the Havel family since the 1900s, Mr. Kaslov.

Havel mainly painted for pleasure and for his own needs, which is why there are not many surviving works. Vtina was dedicated to birds.
