On the worst days, he was able to swallow several diazepams and wash them down with alcohol before going to bed. For a long time, he only deepened his addiction to drugs of all kinds. But Eminem managed to dig himself out of the hole he dug himself and celebrated sixteen years of sobriety a few days ago. Just a few days later, he announced the arrival of a new album, which, however, received a mysterious first promo and an even more mysterious title, which probably does not leave any fan alone.

After all, Eminem is a mystery in himself. Everyone knows one of the most influential rappers of all time, but they hardly manage to get to him. He rarely gives interviews, practically does not perform concerts – and he takes his time with new projects and does not release them into the world year after year like other artists. But all the more interesting is his fresh information about the arrival of the album, which is to be released four years after the last work Music To Be Murdered By. It should be available for listening this summer.

The twelfth studio of the performer, who also runs his own spaghetti restaurant inspired by the famous composition Lose Yourselfwill bear the title The Death Of Slim Shady. And precisely at this moment, more than one fan of the native of American Detroit has to sharpen his wits. Slim Shady is his legendary alter ego, which he first started talking about back in 1997. And now his end should come, as indicated by both the album title and the opening promo.

The announcement of the new record came during the much-watched telecast during which American football players are selected for NFL teams (the so-called NFL Draft). Before the eyes of millions of viewers, a detective suddenly appeared, appearing in the show Detroit Murder Files trying to solve the mystery of Slim Shady’s death. It’s dark everywhere, police lights are flashing, and another well-known rapper, 50 Cent, who is Eminem’s long-time friend, also has a minor cameo.

What does this mean, the public began to ask. Honestly, if Eminem wants to kill off his most famous alter ego at the age of fifty-one, which spans generations and is as well-known as his main stage name, it probably wouldn’t surprise anyone. Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, has had a few downs over the years and it may be time to say goodbye to one chapter of his history for good.

After all, he already said goodbye to the one who changed his life for the worse a long time ago. Eminem has been open on several occasions about his addiction to drugs during his rising stardom. Around 2006, he was able to take eighty diazepams before going to bed and didn’t shy away from other pills, let alone alcohol, which helped him in rap battles. It is said that a turning point occurred in his eyes when the editor spoke to him in an interview after one of the performances and he had no idea what she was saying. 50 Cent was responsible for him.

His addiction then worsened after the death of a member of Eminem’s band D12, who called himself Proof. That’s when Eminem pumped so much that he almost died. “I just took more pills. When it happened, I literally couldn’t walk for two days. At one point I had ten dealers that I was buying them from. I honestly don’t know how I’m still here,” recalled Eminem in a rare interview with the magazine Billboard.

But then came 2008, April 20 to be exact, when Eminem started his first day as a sober artist. He was just planning to record a record Relapse, which was released a year later and ranks among his most successful. As he himself says, he suddenly enjoyed creating music again and was amused by the process of its creation. Since then, he likes to remember his success in life, i.e. the end of addiction.

For each year of sobriety, Eminem buys special coins – and it was no different on April 20, 2024, when he shared a new token with the number 16 on his networks. For so many years, he allegedly did not reach for pills or alcohol.

Anyway, Slim Shady’s character, if really will kill, will never completely disappear. After all, that’s the name of one of his most famous songs The Real Slim Shadyraps about the character in legendary songs Without Me (there he mentions that he created a monster) or My Name Is and, after all, his second record was called The Slim Shady LP.
