There was a time to be not straight it was also fashionable in Russia. Approximately twenty years ago, first domestic and then European radio and television programs were dominated by the Russian couple tATu, whose two members pretended to be probably possible lesbians. After some time it became clear that they were not, and even later they did not even shy away from some of those homophobic statements. But we can’t see into their heads, so we don’t know what led them to it. Anyway, eleven years after the official breakup, the ladies got back together and performed a short concert at a stadium in Minsk, Belarus. Their comeback was a kind of bonus to the MMA evening of the OVION SHOW and probably thanks to that it is really well shot. But many cameras did a disservice, because the triumphant arrival of the tanker, which goes around the entire stadium inside, shows that the seats are basically empty and only the space in front of the stage is a little full. Even the almost empty stadium (wouldn’t the Belarusians like to crowd a lot these days…?) got a pretty big show. Lena Katina and Julia Volkova, accompanied by a band and lots of dancers, sang three songs, sometimes a little fake. And a pair of their biggest hits, “All The Things She Said” (this was heard in the English version, probably because its lyrics lesbian) and “Нас не догонят”, are, all negative connotations and negative memories from youth aside, still great hits. Even though the whole performance is actually so completely weird…
