A varied program awaits the visitors of the 19th Pilsen Museum Night, which will take place on Friday, May 26, from 4 to 11 p.m. Twelve cultural institutions participated in this year’s edition, so those interested can see fifteen inspiring places throughout Pilsen. They will present an exceptional atmosphere at a time when their doors are usually closed.
The West Bohemian Gallery in Pilsen will open the Masné krámy exhibition hall to visitors, where in addition to the current exhibition Golden Times. Art from the collections of the West Bohemian Gallery in Pilsen awaits them with a guided tour, a creative workshop and a cabaret show. The main part of the program will then take place in the unique Semler residence of architect Adolf Loos on Klatovská třída.
“This year, for the first time, Museum Night will take place in Semler’s residence. We have prepared a very varied program, which we set in the atmosphere of the 1930s,” explains Gabriela Darebná from the West Bohemian Gallery in Pilsen and at the same time the main coordinator of the Pilsen Museum Night. “In addition to a tour of the historic interior with guides in period clothing, visitors can look forward to a concert by the Tuten Swing band, creative workshops, a projection of grotesques or a parade of period cars.” invites Darebná to Semler’s residence.
The West Bohemian Museum in Pilsen will present its three museums. In the main building at Kopeckého sady 2, it is possible to visit not only exhibitions and permanent exhibitions, but also participate in the insect workshop or the craft workshop of the Ethnographic Museum of Pilsen in front of the museum building. There are also very popular guided tours of the library or the Invertebrates around us exhibition. The Puppet Museum in Pilsen and the Museum of Ecclesiastical Art of the Pilsen Diocese will also remain open until the evening hours.
“At the Puppet Museum, in addition to the permanent exhibition, visitors can look forward to an art workshop for making cheerful leeches, an educational game called Medicinal Plants, Peter Moš’s Good Spa or the Museum Theatre. In the Museum of Ecclesiastical Art of the Pilsen Diocese, we opened a new exhibition Fascination by Santini, and as part of the Pilsen Museum Night, those interested can visit the chapel of St. Barbory to listen to the period music of the Vespa trio ensemble,” he says Romana Nemečková from the West Bohemian Museum in Pilsen.
Guided tours, creative workshops and light installations have also been prepared for visitors by the Brewery Museum and the Pilsen Historical Underground. The municipal organization Pilsen – Turismus invites you to a guided tour of the dark interior of the Hugo Semler family’s apartment at Klatovská třída 19 by the world-famous architect Adolf Loos or to the Patton Memorial Pilsen museum for guided tours and a program for children.
