Human hyenism. This is the name given to the actions of a 29-year-old man who robbed an 81-year-old senior citizen in Lovosice. At the same time, he originally wanted to help the younger man in an allegedly bad situation. When he wanted to give him small coins, the thief snatched 2 thousand crowns from his wallet and ran away. Within a few days, however, the law enforcement officers tracked down the thief, and the recidivist, who had already committed a similar act in the past, faces up to three years in prison.

The perpetrator approached an 81-year-old senior on the sidewalk and asked if he would give him some small cash. “The old man wanted to help him and willingly opened his wallet in which he was looking for small coins. The unknown man should have taken advantage of this and, without the victim’s consent, reached into his wallet, pulled out a banknote worth 2,000 crowns and ran away,” described police spokeswoman Pavla Kofrová.
The police immediately launched an intensive search and within a few days the thief was tracked down. “It turned out to be a twenty-nine-year-old man from Ústí, who committed the above-mentioned behavior despite the fact that he had been legally convicted and punished for a similar act in the past. In case of guilt recognized by the court, he faces up to three years in prison,” the police spokeswoman added.
