Hospoda U Hrocha on Mal Stran became famous throughout Prague for two reasons. The first is excellent beer, according to many one of the best in the metropolis. And the second one is cramped spaces and therefore limited. In other words, at Hrocha, you can’t get a beer for everyone who walks by, because there’s simply nowhere to sit.
Last week, a group of Israeli tourists talked about it with the Czech guides, who wanted to give UHroch a beer on the stand. They entered the beer hall, within sight of the Chamber of Deputies building, at the exact moment when a demonstration in support of the Palestinians in the conflict with Israel and its military intervention in the Gaza Strip was taking place in the nearby Malostranska mnst.
The inn, however, with its inelegant style, rejected guests of all races and nationality without a place to sit, and refused them a beer.
