WARNING: Heavy rain will overtake parts of the Czech Republic, there is also a risk of flooding somewhere

Part of the Czech Republic will suffer from heavy downpours, but we cannot do without an umbrella anywhere on Friday. The rain can also raise the levels of some rivers. Meteorologists therefore issued a warning.

A heavy rain warning is in effect from Friday until 3:00 a.m. Saturday part of the Hradec Králové, Pardubice, Olomouc and Moravian-Silesian regions. According to meteorologists, it can rain up to 50 millimeters of water in 24 hours.

“When it rains, you need to reduce your car speed and drive very carefully. Do not enter or drive into flowing water and flooded areas,” experts advise.

Flood warning

In connection with the rain, a flood alert is also in effect from Friday to Saturday 10 a.m. also for part Hradec Králové, Pardubice, Olomouc and Moravian-Silesian regions.

The levels of some rivers may rise and the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ) expects even the first flood stage in places. People should monitor the development of the situation and avoid bathing, swimming, boating or moving in the river bed.

However, umbrellas will also be needed elsewhere. It should rain in most areas on Friday. During the day, the precipitation will then start to stop and the clouds will begin to break. It can even snow in places above 1100 meters.

It shouldn’t rain anymore on Saturday, and meteorologists expect partly clear to clear skies. Temperatures will rise to a maximum of 12 °C during the day. In the east, however, we still have to expect fresh winds with gusts of around 15 meters per second.
