After an extreme reduction in air pressure overnight on Friday, the situation is gradually returning to normal. However, sensitive people should take into account that the pressure will be like a swing next week, says meteorologist Dagmar Honsová.
The air pressure in the Czech Republic has been falling since midday on Wednesday. “We reached the bottom on the night of Friday. And now we are already in the phase of a slight rise. During Friday, people with low blood pressure should be significantly relieved,” explains meteorologist Dagmar Honsová, reminding that we can expect further air pressure fluctuations in the next week.
Despite the potential health risk, the Medical Ambulance Service The city of Prague recorded only normal traffic on Friday night. “During the service, we did not register any large number of people who needed our help,Jana Poštová from the Prague ambulance reports for TN.cz.
”Changes in air pressure bother more sensitive individualsbut I wouldn’t exaggerate this matter,” explains cardiologist from the Prague IKEM and senator Jan Pirk (for TOP 09). “I myself slept like a log on Friday night and I definitely wouldn’t want to scare people with this issue. Some individuals are more sensitive, others don’t care and it doesn’t matter if they have a disease or not,” points out Pirk.
Even the chairman of the Czech Medical Chamber, Milan Kubek, would not make low blood pressure a more serious problem. “Extremely high temperatures, for example, mean a much greater burden for older people and cardiac patients. When the air pressure drops, some people may feel, for example, only increased fatigue and sleepiness,” adds Kubek.
