The autumn sales season for used cars is at its peak. Record sales are reported not only by the largest player in the Czech market, AURES Holdings, which operates the AAA Auto and Mototechna networks, but they are also shown by data on advertised cars on the entire Czech market. Seven percent of cars increased month-on-month (almost +8,000 cars to 108,000 units), the median price of a car also rose slightly to CZK 205,000 (+5,000 CZK), the average mileage decreased slightly to 155,481 km (-1,000 km). The average age of advertised used cars remains practically the same at 10.7 years. This results from an analysis of the entire secondary market, carried out by AAA Auto experts, the largest seller of used cars in the Czech Republic.
There was an even increase in petrol and diesel cars in the offer (6.7 and 7.5%, respectively), the increase is more pronounced in hybrids (16%) and electric cars (12%), but the initial figures are low for both types (1,277 hybrids, i.e. 1.2 percent of the market; 690 electric cars, i.e. 0.6% of the market). Cars on natural gas (0.4%) and, surprisingly, also on propane-butane LPG (1.7%) remain completely on the fringes of interest. “Gasoline-burning cars remain dominant in the secondary market, making up 52 percent of the offer, diesel engines then 44 percent. This basically correlates with data from our AAA AUTO network, where gasoline cars account for 57 percent of sales. Similar to the entire second-hand market in our car centers, sales of alternative fuel cars are growing rapidly, we have already sold six times more electric cars than last year.” says the COO of AURES Holdings Petr Vaneček.

The youngest cars are offered in Prague
Significantly the youngest cars appear in the offers in the capital – the median age of 8.3 years is five years lower than, for example, in the Liberec, Ústí and South Bohemian regions. Cars in the metropolis are also significantly more expensive – for example by half as much as in the Liberec region.
As for the most offered models, their order is the same not only in the month-to-month, but also in the year-to-year comparison. Škoda Octavia remains in first place (10,242 units), followed by Škoda Fabia (6,240 units) and Superb (3,392 units). This is a slight change compared to last year, in October 2022 the Volkswagen Golf was in the bronze position, this year it is fourth (3,161 units). In other places, the VW Passat, BMW 3 and Ford Focus are unchanged.
