This is the first such comprehensive line with standardized European train security equipment in the south-west of Bohemia. Next year, the section from Pilsen to Beroun will be completed for hundreds of millions of crowns. The ETCS system, which increases the smoothness and at the same time the safety of railway traffic, should be introduced on all corridor lines in the Czech Republic by 2025. “It is a very demanding, exclusively technological construction, it did not include any modernization of the long line,” said Deputy Railway Administration Mojmír Nejezchleb .

At the same time, the security equipment was completely replaced in the Cheb node. “The first radio block headquarters for the section between Pilsen and Cheb was activated in 2021. “910 Eurobalises are installed in the main tracks of individual stations and in all the sections between them, which are used for communication between the track and train parts of ETCS,” he said. The work also included modifications to station and track security devices, which ensure the transmission of data on the availability of sections, the status routes and crossings and other information to the radio headquarters.

This spring, the replacement of the existing relay security device with an electronic 3rd category, which is controlled from a single service station, was completed at the Cheb station. In addition, it enables operation from the Central Dispatch Office in Prague. The work in Cheb also included the addition of electrical heating to the switches and the necessary modifications to the tracks, communication equipment, radio for passengers and the information and camera system. The premises for the new signal control center and the room for communication equipment were then renovated. At the same time, there was a change in the layout of the dispatcher workplaces.
