The construction of the new bridge will bring additional restrictions at the busy roundabout.
After the demolition of the nearly 50-year-old bridge, which we wrote about earlier, construction work in Olomouc will continue in three stages until the end of August next year. The dismantling of the bridge was managed to be timed to the deadline for the closure of the span.
“Fortunately, we managed to compete for the public contract in such a way that we managed to take advantage of the currently valid closures due to the reconstruction of the stretch, which is being done by the ŘSD,” said Miloslav Tichý, investment deputy of the mayor of Olomouc.
The bridge spans the I/35 road in front of the Globus roundabout and connects the neighborhoods of Neředín and Řepčín on the northwestern edge of the city. The entire construction will be accompanied by traffic restrictions on the I/35 road at the exit from Olomouc, the roadway will be narrowed to two lanes.

In the period from November 5 to 30, the outer lanes of the road will be closed. From December 1 until the end of February, the outer paved shoulders of the carriageway will be closed. In the last stage, from March to the end of August next year, the outer and inner lanes will be closed alternately. All restrictions apply to the left and right side of the road.
With the lowest bid price (CZK 17,896,443.62 without VAT) he won the Strabag footbridge competition. The price includes demolition and construction of a new footbridge. According to the municipality, the original estimates counted on the amount of 34,890,440 crowns.
“After the competition, we reached a significantly lower amount compared to the estimated price according to the project, by a full 12 million crowns,” added Tichý. The city applied for a SFDI subsidy for the footbridge, hoping to cover the entire amount of subsidies. The results of the subsidy procedure should be known by the end of the year.
