Post office: we will deliver the shipment submitted on December 20th by Christmas | Company | News | Prague Gossip

--

The Packeta mailroom and group is ready for this Christmas season. The date by which customers can submit a shipment to be delivered by Christmas Day has been set for Wednesday, December 20. This applies to shipments submitted at the depots of the Post Office. If the customer submits the shipment at the delivery point of the Post Office, the key day is Tuesday, December 19. The post office is not introducing seasonal surcharges this year and is not raising the price of its services. In the run-up to Christmas, the number of shipments that the Post Office processes daily increases by up to three times compared to the normal period of the year.

Zásilkovna has the widest network of all carriers in the Czech Republic

The post office can rely on the densest network of drop-off points and boxes, of which there are almost 9,000 in the Czech Republic, and the entire Packet group has almost 15,000 drop-off points. The increasingly popular Z-BOXes, automatic dispensing boxes, are an important helper for managing pre-Christmas shopping. The post office currently has more than 3,500 Z-BOXes, and Packet has almost 6,000.

The total daily capacity of the network is up to 1.4 million shipments, with drivers delivering up to 70,000 shipments per day to the address alone. Every second shipment is sorted at the depots by robots or automated technology. For convenient, simple and fast delivery of parcels, customers can also use the Zásilkovna mobile application, which has already been downloaded by almost 8,000,000 people to their phones.

Modern depot, more than 1,000 temporary workers per season

The mailroom and the entire Packeta group have a wide network of 47 modern depots. All depots underwent modernization this year and have a total area of almost 112,000 m². Zásilkovny depots in the Czech Republic will be open until December 23, and some of them will also be in operation on Christmas Day. For the season, which will again be a record for Zásilkovna, it has hired more than 1,000 part-timers, for the positions of warehouse workers or customer center operators.

Some depots will also be open on Christmas Day

Similar to previous years, the Post Office will have an open depot on weekends as well, starting on November 11. Depots in Rudná, Pilsen, Ústí nad Labem, Karlovy Vary, České Budějovice, Hradec Králové and Olomouc will also be open on Saturday, December 23. If customers will be ordering gifts at the last minute, the Post Office recommends choosing one of the strategic depots, which will remain open on Christmas Day, as a drop-off point. Specifically, it is a depot Prague-Štěrboholy, Holubice near Brno or Jihlava. It will still be open here on December 24, and that until 12:00.

Customer service even on Saturdays, reduced storage time

The Post Office’s customer service will also operate in Christmas mode: from November 11, the customer center will be open on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and from November 25 it will also be available on Saturdays until December 16 at from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Outside of these times, a chatbot or voicebot will help customers with questions.

During the pre-Christmas period, as in previous years, the storage time of shipments is also shortened. The reason for this measure is that the delivery points can handle the growing volume of shipments and have room for gifts from all the Santas. However, the storage period can easily be extended.
