We know the new winners of environmental awards. The Olomouc Region awarded them for significant achievements in environmental protection, waste separation and recycling, or for long-term contribution to the environment. The absolute winner was decided by the public through voting. It became the Bělecký Mlýn – a forestry company, a farm and an excursion center focused on agrotourism.
“Every year, we present regional awards in various areas and recognize those who excel in something, are useful and help. This year’s awards in the area of the environment are a great example of this, because the award winners not only help the nature around us, but also bring positive and inspiring stories to the public space so that others can follow them and do something good too,” said Josef Suchánek, Governor of the Olomouc Region.
The award ceremony took place on Thursday, November 2, in the auditorium of the secondary school of agriculture in Přerov. The award went to, for example, pedagogue Eva Zatloukalová, who has long been dedicated to nature protection and ecological education, as well as the municipality of Tovéř for not only planting alleys and orchards, but also the Zábřežsko microregion for the Zábřežsko třídí project. “We observe the manifestations of climate change in the Olomouc region in weather fluctuations, the occurrence of non-native and invasive species of plants and animals, and the gradual transformation of the landscape. In order for the Olomouc region to continue to have beautiful nature, activity is needed. And it is through the Olomouc Region Awards that we want to honor those who do such beneficial activities, whether in the field of education and awareness, specific interventions in the landscape or perhaps in waste management.” added Martin Šmída, councilor of the Olomouc region for the environment.
