Firefighters from the Olomouc region extinguished a massive fire in an older family home in Mikulovice. According to initial information, the building was supposed to be abandoned. In the ground floor, which was the most affected by the fire, they found a body without signs of life.
The flames also spread to the upper floor and the roof of the building. Firefighters from the Jeseník, Zlatá Hora and Široký Brod stations also came to help the units from Mikulovice with the extinguishing.
They gradually extinguished the fire also in the part of the ceiling flap, where the hot spots were detected with the help of a thermal camera. “It was necessary to put out a large amount of various burning waste and other stored items,” the fire department said.
The exact cause of the fire is not yet known. “One of the most likely options is carelessness when handling an open fire,” the firemen added. It is not yet known how much damage the fire caused.
