A tragic sight appeared to the firefighters, who spent many hours fighting the fire of an older house in Mikulovice in Olomouc. They found a charred body in the most affected part. The massive fire was apparently caused by carelessness in handling the fire.
Firefighters from the Olomouc region extinguished a massive fire in an older family home in Mikulovice. According to initial information, the building was supposed to be abandoned. In the ground floor, which was the most affected by the fire, they found a body without signs of life.
The flames also spread to the upper floor and the roof of the building. Firefighters from the Jeseník, Zlatá Hora and Široký Brod stations also came to help the units from Mikulovice with the extinguishing.
They gradually extinguished the fire also in the part of the ceiling flap, where the hot spots were detected with the help of a thermal camera. “It was necessary to put out a large amount of various burning waste and other stored items,” the fire department said.
The exact cause of the fire is not yet known. “One of the most likely options is carelessness when handling an open fire,” the firemen added. It is not yet known how much damage the fire caused.
A fire in the Černovír district of Olomouc occupied firefighters from the early hours of Tuesday morning. The flames engulfed the family home and spread very quickly throughout the building. Firefighters managed to save neighboring houses.
Inside the house, they found one injured person, who was handed over to the rescuers. The cause of the fire is not yet clear, but firefighters have not ruled out intentional starting. Preliminary damage is estimated at more than a million crowns.
