Unemployment in the Czech Republic fell to 3.5 percent in October, and was thus 0.1 percentage point lower than in September and August, according to data from the Labor Office of the Czech Republic. According to data from the European Union Office Eurostat, unemployment in the Czech Republic was 2.7 percent in October, which is the lowest in the entire European Union.

By the end of October, 261,000 people were looking for a place through employment offices, 2,379 less than the previous month. Vacancies also decreased, by 1,499 to 280,000. A year ago in October, there were almost 300,000 vacancies.

The highest unemployment was in October in the Ústí Region with 5.4 percent. On the contrary, the lowest unemployment, namely 2.6 percent, was in the Zlín, South Bohemian and Pilsen Regions and the Vysočina Region.

Companies operating in the processing industry and construction are currently looking for employees. In the long term, companies demand qualified craftsmen.

The number of people registered with employment offices also includes unemployed people who cannot start work immediately. These are, for example, people on retraining courses, unemployed women on maternity leave, prisoners or the unemployed on disability. There were 237,000 so-called available job seekers aged 15 to 64 in the Czech Republic who could start work immediately.
