In the third quarter of this year, 2.145 million tourists stayed in hotels, guesthouses and campsites in Prague, a year-on-year increase of 15.4 percent. The number of visitors to the Czech metropolis increased, especially from foreigners who stayed here for longer. Compared to the pre-covid summer of 2019, however, there were still fewer of them, and the total number of visitors to the capital was also lower. In the third quarter of 2019, Prague hosted 2.297 million people. This emerged from data published today by the Czech Statistical Office (ČSÚ).

Among the tourists who used the services of Prague accommodation facilities this year from the beginning of July to the end of September, there were roughly 1.75 million foreigners and roughly 399,000 Czechs. The number of foreign tourists increased by 19.1 percent year-on-year, and domestic guests arrived by 1.5 percent more.

Tourists spent 5.018 million nights in Prague, a year-on-year increase of 17.2 percent. Most nights, almost 4.3 million, fell to foreign tourists. Compared to last year’s third quarter, their stay in the Czech capital increased by almost a fifth. The number of nights spent in Prague by guests from the Czech Republic increased by 3.7 percent to almost 750,000.
