In the 1st and 3rd quarters of 2023, a total of 3,627 apartments were completed in the South Moravian region, which is 364 more than in the same period in 2022. More than a third of them are in the Brno-msto district. In total, 4,540 apartments were built in the monitored period, of which 44% were in new apartment buildings.

This number of apartments represents 16.6% of the republic’s total. Compared to the same period in 2022, the construction of apartments in the region remained the same (or according to the preliminary results, there were 2 fewer apartments). A decrease was recorded in the total construction of apartments in family houses (by 27.8%, i.e. by 562 apartments), but below the increase in apartment buildings (by 33.6%, i.e. by 505 apartments). A moderate decrease in the number of buildings was recorded in all regions with the exception of Karlovy Vary and South Moravian Region.

Out of the seven districts of the South Moravian Region, the total share of heated apartments was mainly shared by the districts of Brno-msto (35.0%) and Brno-venkov (20.0%). Total construction in the Brno-city district increased by 15.1% (by 208 flats), in the Brno-venkov district it fell by 15.7% (by 170 flats). The Znojmo district recorded the highest relative number of closed flats (by 39.0%, i.e. by 181 flats). According to the type of building, 32.2% of apartments in the region were burned in family houses (1,460 apartments), and 44.3% in apartment buildings (2,010 apartments).

Completed construction in the South Moravian Region in the 1st and 3rd quarters of 2023 increased by 11.2%. It was total completed 3,627 flat, which is 364 apartments more than in the same period of 2022. The number of completed apartments in family houses decreased by 1.8% (by 30 apartments), the number of completed apartments in apartment buildings increased by 14.5% (by 161 apartments). . The region accounted for 14.0% of the national number of completed apartments, in an inter-regional comparison, the number of completed apartments was the 3rd highest after the Stedo Region and Prague. The region of Libereck recorded the highest annual increase (by 26.2%, i.e. by 176 flats), the South Moravian region was fifth in this comparison. There was a decrease in eight regions, the largest in the Olomouc region (by 19.3%, i.e. by 328 flats).
In the interdistrict comparison, the largest number of apartments in the South Moravian Region was completed in the Brno-msto district (1,260 apartments, i.e. 34.7% of the regional total). The Brno-msto district showed the highest relative number of completed apartments (by 90.6%, i.e. by 599 apartments). Of the other districts, only the district of Brno-venkov recorded an increase. In the structure of apartments completed in the South Moravian Region, 45.2% were apartments in family houses and 35.1% were apartments in apartment buildings. The largest number of apartments in family houses was completed in the district of Brno-venkov, namely 33.2% of the regional total. The district of Brno-msto showed the highest number of completed apartments in apartment buildings (63.7%).
