In the final match of the 6th round of the women’s volleyball extra league, the neighbors in the table met in Olomouc: the sixth VK Šantovka fifth, both with seven points until then. Hanačky lost in Liberec and Ostrava at home to Prostějov in the last round. However, only one team reigned supreme on the university board – apart from the second set, the Olomouc women could not match the guests in almost anything, and the three points for the 3:0 victory go to Ostrava.
The beginning of the match was extremely successful for the guests, who took a 5-0 lead with captain Skřivanova’s serve, and the home coach Drešl’s first timeout soon came. Olomouc’s first point, however, followed Artyshuková’s smash at 0:7. The home team continued to look for both receiving and attacking, Ostrava continued to increase the lead (4:13, 8:17). In attack, the visitors relied on the finishing of Skřivanová, who reliably composed the team’s offers. In the end, Hanačky (16:23) lost, but Ostrava could not take the set and won it 25:16.
In the second set, the home team started better, leading 8:5 with Farská’s serve and Fedchuk’s smashes. Ostrava equalized for the first time at 10:10 and led at 14:13. The ending was dramatic. After Artyshuková’s smash, Šantovka was on top – 22:21. However, the visiting players showed better nerves in the end and after the smash, Hadáček won 25:23.
Olomouc is winning again in Europe, it has the scalp of the finalists of the Alpe Adria Cup
In the third act, the home team repeated the entry from the first and soon lost 0:4 and 3:8. However, the university did not want to let the guests go and Artyshuková gave four aces from the serve to make it 7:8, to which the coach from Ostrava responded with a timeout. And finally came TJ’s decisive escape in this set and finally in the whole match (11:16). Ostrava won the third set as well and won in Olomouc clearly 3:0.
“We were afraid to play, it was a scared performance from us. We mainly lacked aggressiveness in attack. We also did not agree well on the processing of loose balloons. Again, we did not put enough pressure on the service. From my point of view, it was an unfocused performance today, we played the match as if out of obligation. We didn’t follow the tactical instructions from the training, overall I’m very dissatisfied with today’s performance,” Olomouc coach Jan Drešl was very critical.
Ostrava coach Zdeněk Pommer assessed the match more cheerfully. “We are happy for the three points, which we really needed. Today we pushed the opponent and didn’t let them play much. We watched the beginnings of the sets, especially in the first one we had an excellent start. We were in control of the match, we didn’t want to make unnecessary mistakes and give away points to the opponent, which we did. I want to praise the girls for their comprehensive performance and I believe that we will build on it in the next matches.”
On Saturday, November 11, the Olomouc women will have a home league match, starting at 5 p.m. they will host the Sokol Šternberk team in a derby.
