Police warns, accidents at crossings have started to increase again. In Jablonec alone, two such incidents occurred on Wednesday. According to the police, lighting conditions are behind the accidents, so people should be more careful. Both pedestrians and drivers.
The first accident happened right after seven o’clock in the morning in Lučany nad Nisou. “The driver of the Renault Twingo was driving along the first class road number 14 in the direction of Jablonec nad Nisou, where at the pedestrian crossing he collided with a pedestrian who was crossing the road from his point of view from right to left,” described the police spokeswoman Dagmar Sochorová.
The pedestrian was injured in this collision with the vehicle, with which she was transported from the scene of the incident by the crew of the Liberec Region Medical Ambulance Service to a hospital in Jablonec.
The second traffic accident happened in the early evening in Jablonec nad Nisou in the street 28. října in the area of the intersection on Horní náměstí. “Here, the driver of the Škoda Octavia was driving from the city center and while turning left onto the 28 October street at the pedestrian crossing, he overlooked a pedestrian who came out from behind a parked vehicle in the direction from the city center to Palackého Street,” the spokeswoman said. The driver himself then took the hit man to the hospital for treatment.
The police are warning pedestrians that they should exercise caution when crossing roads, even at marked pedestrian crossings. But it also warns the driver. “We warn all pedestrians, as the most vulnerable road users, that in the following period we will also focus on them with inspections in the entire Liberec region. As part of traffic safety actions and preventive actions, he will monitor whether they comply with road traffic rules, including the correct use of reflective elements.” concluded Sochorová.
