There should already be enough antibiotics and cough medicines in the Czech Republic. This is claimed by the Ministry of Health after negotiations with the State Medicines Control Office (SÚKL). It’s just in time, because winter is approaching and with it the season of frequent illnesses.
The protracted problems of the Czech Republic with the supply of medicines are reportedly coming to an end. This should especially apply to antibiotics, fever or cough medicines. Deliveries of these drugs are to flow into the Czech Republic during November and December.
This was stated by the Ministry of Health after a meeting of the Working Group on the Availability of Medicines. In addition to the Ministry, the meeting was also attended by representatives of SÚKL, the Czech Chamber of Pharmacists and the Professional Society of Pediatric Practitioners.
The government was running out of time, especially with winter approaching. “The season of respiratory diseases is starting, during which children’s consumption of not only antibiotics, but also medicines for fever, cough and other symptoms of colds increases. The situation from the end of last year should not be repeated thanks to extraordinary supplies,” said Deputy Minister of Health Jakub Dvořáček.
