A woman attacked her partner in a block of flats in the early evening on Wednesday. The attack was preceded by an argument in the kitchen.
“She stopped attacking only after the arrival of the intervening police officers. The man suffered several slash wounds with a meat cleaver, with which he had to be taken to the hospital for treatment,” regional police spokeswoman Iva Kormošová said, adding that the woman was arrested on the spot and subjected to a breath test with a result of 0.6 per mille of alcohol. The man inhaled one tenth more.
The accused woman has already been convicted twice in the past, once for grievous bodily harm when she caused injury to another woman, and also for attempted murder. Ten years ago, she drunkenly stabbed a homeless man two years older than her who lived with her. The court then sent her to prison for seven years. She was released from prison in June 2021.
“Due to reasonable fear that the woman might continue her criminal activities, that she would run away or hide, the police filed an arrest warrant. The judge accepted the reasons and sent the woman to custody,” added Kormošová.
Criminal investigators have already charged the woman with the crime of grievous bodily harm in the attempted stage, for which she faces from five to twelve years in prison.
