“She doesn’t even have a measurement in her hand yet,” describes the bleak situation of former teacher Lenka Desatová, chairwoman of the Council of Senior Citizens. According to her, the authorities were not able to finish the case even after several emergency calls. Other newly retired pensioners are in a similar situation.
Although the Czech Social Security Administration reported this week that the situation with the payment of pensions has calmed down, officials still do not have a clean slate. 801 people are still waiting for money for more than 90 days, which is the legal deadline for processing an application. “Of these, 127 are applicants for a regular old-age pension, and 437 people’s applications concern an early old-age pension,” the office’s spokeswoman, Tereza Koukolová, admitted.
According to her, the officials did not manage to give 156 people the disability pension on time, 71 applicants did not receive the widow’s pension within the legal deadlines, and ten orphans are also without money.
At the same time, the head of the department, Marian Jurečka (KDU-ČSL), promised three weeks ago that the problems with the first day of November would definitely disappear.
