
The police in Anděl discovered a man who was staying in the Czech Republic illegally. He drew attention to himself by drinking alcohol in public, a routine check turned into a chase that resulted in the man being taken to the police station. In addition, it turned out that the young man was in possession of an illegal amount of marijuana.
On Wednesday, November 1, the police patrol decided to check a man who was drinking alcohol on the street at Anděl in Prague 5. The young man did not present his identity document to the police officer, he made the excuse that he had left it at home. He claimed that he lived around the corner and that he would bring it to the officers.
“The police didn’t believe him and wanted to escort the man, which he didn’t mind at first, but the opposite was true. After walking for a while, he ran away and tried to disappear from the patrol in the evening streets of the metropolis, but in vain.” a spokesperson said in a press release Jan Rybansky. After running for several hundred meters, the police managed to catch up with the young man.
“With the help of coercive means, he was secured and brought to the police station for further actions,” added the spokesperson. Turns out he had a reason to run away. He was staying in the Czech Republic illegally, and the police found an illegal amount of marijuana on him, which in the Czech Republic is up to 10 grams.
After the protocol was drawn up, the man was handed over to the foreign police, who started administrative deportation proceedings with him. The following day, he was also transferred to a detention facility for foreigners.
