The several-year dispute over land in Zlín-Malenovice is finally over. The district court in Zlín decided on it. The area on which the new hospital was originally supposed to be built will go to the Zlín Region after the payment of 10 million crowns.
The court proceedings ended with an agreement between the county and Unimex Group, which was the original owner of the land.
“The court proceedings ended amicably. We achieved the best possible result for the Zlín region. We got out of the disadvantageous terms of the purchase contract concluded by my predecessor, which threatened us with large fines and the loss of the acquired land. Therefore, we remain the owner and can now look for opportunities to use the space in Malenovice without further restrictions.” says governor Radim Holiš.
In 2020, the Zlín Region bought the land with an area of 942 square meters from the mentioned company Unimex Group for 1.5 million crowns. However, the area in Malenovice was to be used exclusively for the construction of a new hospital.
Two years later, however, the company filed a lawsuit at the District Court in Zlín, alleging that the region had violated the terms of the purchase agreement. The reason was supposed to be the extension of the investment conclusion of the New Regional Baťovy Hospital until the end of 2040, which was approved by the representatives. But the region denied any wrongdoing. After a long series of negotiations, both parties finally reached an agreement, and the out-of-court settlement was now confirmed by the district court on Wednesday.
