Few people in the Czech Republic realize what Karel Schwarzenberg has done for her. Apart from Vclav Havel, no one in Europe and the world had such social capital and such authority. And this both among the political representation of other countries, and among the many people who submit to the women of their countries. And he made this chapter and his authority as minister of foreign affairs available not only to his prime minister – and that was Mirek Topolnek or Petr Neas – and to his government. But, when he was in the opposition, he provided it with customs on the ground. And that’s completely unnecessary.

Mirek Topolnek described it in his book “100 Days in Europe” with a simple and perfectly true sentence: “Thanks to Karl Schwarzenberg, I had much more authority in Europe than I deserved.”

Yes, Karel Schwarzenberg really served his whole life. he often told me a simple joke: “You have to be polite.” When we look around, we see that this is not a day of banality, that it is a real preciousness. That’s why Karel Schwarzenberg didn’t just slander this story, he went so far. He says without pathos that he has filled his life with service to his country. He will be greatly missed.
