The defeat was not prevented by the three authors of 16 points, captain Natálie Stoupalová, Julie Pospíšilová and Veronika Voráčková, who was close to a double double with nine assists. Eleanna Christinaki, the top scorer of the match, shone in the Greece team, which was missing the injured mainstay Mariella Fasula from Salamanca, with 20 points.
The next games await the players of coach Romany Ptáčková in November in Italy and in Germany, which they lost 41:85 at home on Thursday.
The Czechs took the lead three times in the beginning thanks to baskets by Stoupalová, Voráčková and a triple by Pospíšilová, but the home basketball players turned from 5:7 to 11:7. After 12 seconds of her debut in the national team, Karolína Šotolová scored and Stoupalová equalized with two successful free throws. However, Greece escaped to an 18:11 lead by the end of the first quarter.
In the second ten-minute period, the Czechs recovered the loss and turned from 20:24 to 26:24. Coach Ptáčková’s team then led 29:28 after Kateřina Galíčková’s three-pointer, but the home team responded with an eight-point streak. By halftime, Kateřina Rokošová reduced the score to 34:37 from a distance.
In the third quarter, the Stoupals tied the score at 42:42 in quick succession after the Czech Republic scored five points, but Christinakiová refused to turn the score around with a three-pointer. Between the 25th and 27th minutes, Greece gained a 56:44 lead with a ten-point streak. Stoupalová’s three-pointer and a basket with a converted free throw by Gabriela Andělová got the score below double digits.
In the final quarter, the Czech team came close three times with a difference of five points, but the home basketball players kept the win.
