On Tuesday, the Financial Administration on the X social network reminded of today’s deadline for submitting real estate tax returns. At the same time, she attached a leaflet that contains information on in which cases it is necessary to file a tax return in connection with the amendment of the law and when, on the contrary, it is not.
This year, due to the new rules of taxation according to registration in the cadastre, approximately one hundred thousand taxpayers are liable. In particular, it concerns the owners of garages, plots of land or recreational buildings, as taxation will now be governed by the data in the real estate register, and not by the actual purpose of use.
“When it comes to changes in rates or local coefficients of municipalities, the tax authorities themselves determine the new amount of tax, which they will inform the taxpayer at the end of April or during May. Similarly, when determining the tax, we will take into account a number of other changes brought about by the amendment,” said the Director General of the Financial Administration Simona Hornochová.
To submit a real estate tax return, it is recommended to use the new tax return pre-filling service with data from the tax office and the real estate register in the tax information box on the MY TAX portal.
The deadline for submitting the return is January 31 and for paying the tax on May 31. The Financial Administration receives about half a million tax returns for real estate tax every year.
