The primary school in Libčice nad Vltavou was led for eight years by a headmistress who proved herself with a fake university degree. Last week, the regional court in Prague rejected the prosecutor’s appeal and thus confirmed the first-instance verdict, in which the woman received a two-year suspended sentence with a thirty-month suspension.

The server iRozhlas.cz drew attention to the case. With a falsified university diploma, the woman proved herself in the selection process. She allegedly presented a copy of her master’s degree from Charles University, but it later turned out to be a forgery. She never completed a university education.
From 2007, she worked as a teacher at ZŠ Bítovská and later in 2012 became the principal of the primary school in Libčice nad Vltavou, which she led for eight years. After the truth about the falsified diploma surfaced, the headmistress resigned.
She was an elementary school principal for eight years. She faked her diploma to get the position
According to the website iRozhlas, prosecutor Petr Podroužek previously demanded a stricter punishment for the former director. Both a higher condition and financial compensation to the elementary school in Libčice in full. However, the District Court of Prague – West rejected it in November of last year and described the approach of the public prosecutor’s office as simplistic with reference to a civil dispute.
The court found the former director guilty not only of forging a public document, but also of fraud. The woman based her claim in court on the fact that she did not know that it was a forgery and that she had believed all along that she was the rightful owner of the diploma. According to her lawyer, the woman would never have presented the diploma if she knew it was a fake.
