“Abu Dhabi is an ideal destination for those who are looking for a rich experience even outside the hotel resort. We will fly with Smartwings on a direct flight from Prague to Abu Dhabi International Airport every Thursday morning from the first of February until the beginning of May. Clients will fly on a Boeing 737 MAX, the duration of the flight is around seven hours,” CK Fischer spokesman Jan Bezděk told Novinkám, adding that the new connection is also intended for clients of Exim Tours, i.e. for both travel agencies from the DER Touristik group.
“The United Arab Emirates has long been very popular with Czech passengers, in the past year more than 100,000 passengers used the air connection between the UAE and Prague. The new connection to Abu Dhabi will thus expand the offer to include another interesting destination from Václav Havel Airport Prague,” says Jaroslav Filip, director of Aviation Trade at Prague Airport.
The most famous attraction of Abu Dhabi is the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, completed in 2007. Its construction cost more than 12 billion crowns, it is the largest mosque in the country and the embodiment of Emirati flamboyance. Entry was free during the coronavirus pandemic. Even now, the entrance does not have to be paid, but it is necessary to register. It is easiest to do so in advance, which often avoids the biggest queues at the entrance. If you are not dressed appropriately for the mosque, there are several shops on site where you can purchase accessories to cover up.
Direct flight from Prague to the Azores since April
Louvre Abu Dhabi and the “red” amusement park
If you are a lover of theme parks, fast motors or preferably both at the same time, you may be interested to know that Yas Island is home to the first ever Ferrari themed theme park. Most of the activities take place indoors, but perhaps the most interesting, the Formula Rossa roller coaster, is outdoors. In less than five seconds, you will accelerate to 240 km/h on it, which makes this attraction the fastest roller coaster in the world. The 4.8G overload is something that many an adrenaline junkie wants to experience. However, this attraction is not intended for the very little ones. The minimum height is 140 centimeters. And not even tall people will enjoy it, because the maximum is 195 centimeters.
While Dubai is focused on breaking various world records, Abu Dhabi has taken a slightly different path, the artistic one. In the city you will find several important galleries and museums, among which the Louvre Abu Dhabi dominates. Award-winning architect Jean Nouvel is behind the futuristic look of the building. Other cultural attractions of the emirate include, for example, the Etihad Modern Art Gallery and Manarat Al Saadiyat. What is certain, however, is that you can easily spend several days in Abu Dhabi visiting galleries and museums.
An interesting opportunity is a special series of performances of the Crystal ice show, which is supported by the world-famous acrobatic group Cirque du Soleil. It will take place in Abu Dhabi at the turn of April and May.
