The wind warning will be valid for Bohemia, Vysočina and the western parts of the South Moravian region on Sunday. From midnight, the warning will be extended to the entire territory of the Republic, while a higher level of warning will apply in the area of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands until Monday noon, as the wind will reach a speed of around 90 kilometers per hour there.
“Wind gusts will be mostly 90 to 110 kilometers per hour in the mountains and in exposed locations,” forecasters said.
Meteorologists expect heavy rainfall, especially on the windward side of the Krkonoše and Eagle Mountains. Around 30 millimeters may fall there within 12 hours, while the outlook promises intense rainfall in the following days as well.

“Only on the ridges of the mountains should there be snowfall or rain with snow. By midnight on Tuesday, over 70 millimeters of rain may fall on the windward side of the mountains,” said the ČHMÚ, adding that river levels may also rise due to the combination of intense rainfall and melting snow in mountainous areas.
“It is not possible to rule out a rare occurrence of the 1st degree of flood activity, so we will refine the warning in the coming days,” meteorologists said.
