Meteorologists also warn of heavier precipitation on the windward side of the mountains, especially in the Krkonoše and Orlické mountains.
A warning with a high degree of danger against very strong winds is valid from midnight Sunday to Monday until noon Monday for the Pardubice Region, Vysočina, South Moravia and Olomouc Region. For other areas of the Czech Republic, warnings of strong winds with a low degree of danger apply.
“The average wind speed will also be relatively high and will last for several hours, which will increase the probability of damage. The relatively weakest wind will be in the lowlands of northern Bohemia and in the south-east of our territory,” said the ČHMÚ.
The Czech Republic is also expecting a rainy season in the coming days, only on the ridges of the mountains it could snow or rain with snow. According to meteorologists, over 70 millimeters of rain may fall on the windward side of the mountains by midnight on Tuesday.
“Stream levels will rise from Sunday into Monday in response to rainfall, strong winds and melting snowpack from mountain locations. It is not possible to rule out the rare occurrence of the first stages of flood activity, so we will refine the warning in the coming days,” said the Czech National Bureau of Statistics.
