During the extended Easter weekend, several dozens of police officers took part in a national security event in the Zlín region. They checked more than 1,600 vehicles and revealed 224 traffic violations.

“Most often it was about exceeding the permitted speed and the unsatisfactory technical condition of the vehicles. In both cases, sixty-eight offenses were involved,” said police spokesman Petr Jaroš.

Eighteen drivers drank before driving, two took drugs

At the same time, police patrols in the Zlín region revealed 18 drivers under the influence of alcohol and another two drivers under the influence of drugs. Three drivers are suspected of committing the crime of endangerment under the influence of a drug due to drunken driving.

“The test showed the most for the driver of a car that the police stopped on Monday evening in Vsetín. The forty-four-year-old man inhaled 2.96 per thousand of alcohol,” added Petr Jaroš.
